by Kurt Vonnegut

First published in 1962, Kurt Vonnegut’s “2 B R 0 2 B” (pronounced like the famous Shakespearean line, “To be or not to be…), imagines a world in which disease has been eradicated and advances in science and technology have made it possible to live forever. Description

Kurt Vonnegut is a bestselling author whose works combine satire, science fiction, and dark humor. His most acclaimed novels include Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat’s Cradle. He is known for his humanistic perspective, and his writing explores themes of technology and free will in an oftentimes chaotic world.

He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Slaughterhouse-Five is inspired by his experience during the war, and more specifically surviving the bombing of Dresden as a prisoner of war. As one of the most influential American authors of the twentieth century, his works are still celebrated today for their insight and enduring relevance.
