We all know of Abraham Lincoln's brilliance as a politician and leader; his role in guiding the United States through the emancipation of slaves and the Civil War has earned him a reputation as one of the greatest presidents in American history. What David Donald's charming narrative does is to show us a side of Lincoln that we do not usually think about - Abraham Lincoln the husband, the father, the person. This book combines charming anecdotes with history, and a collection of letters sent between Lincoln and his family members, to create a delightful and relatable image of one of the most influential figures ever to have lived.
