Description

Civil Wars: Three Tales of Old New York was set in monotype Walbaum, a face derived from the letters designed by the late-eighteenth century French typographer Firmin Didot, by Michael and Winifred Bixler. The text was printed letterpress directly from the type on paper handmade especially for this edition at The Cardinal Mill in Moravia. Elliott Banfield’s illustrations have also been reproduced in eighteen unbound suites of numbered prints. Includes reproduced scratchboard drawings on frontispiece and throughout book.
Binding: Three quarter green morocco and green patterned paste paper boards. Top edges gilt. Five raised bands and gilt labels on spine. Comes in black velvet-lined clamshell box with label gilt on spine.
