Description

H.G. Wells was a writer and historian whose most celebrated works include The Time MachineThe War of Worlds, and The Invisible Man. Using themes of technology, human nature, and the future of civilization, Wells helped to establish modern science fiction as a major literary genre.

Wells was born in Bromley, Kent, in 1866, and studied under biologist Thomas Henry Huxley before pursuing a literary career. Throughout his lifetime, he published dozens of short stories, political essays, and novels. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century.
